OLUWATOYIN ABEGBE AKINTUNDE (Mrs.), LLM, BL, PMP.
Oluwatoyin was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1990 as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She graduated from the University of Lagos, with a 2nd class Law Degree in1989. She returned to the University of Lagos in 1987 for Masters of Law Degree specializing in Public and Commercial Law. She became a Certified Project Manager in Canada with the Institute of Project Managers in 2008.
Toyin started her career at the Farmers Supply Company KDS, Kaduna during her Youth Service in the Legal Department as Junior Counsel, after which she was employed as Company Secretary/ Legal Adviser, with Cashpoint Savings and Loans Limited in 1992. Toyin moved to another area of the Financial Industry, the Insurance Industry through ELMAC (Equitable Life & Mercantile Assurance Company LTD) in 1994. At Elmac, she was the Company Secretary / Legal Adviser, head of Human Resources, Corporate Affairs (Public Relations), Banking unit and assisted the Administrative Department, as head of Procurement.
After completing her Masters of Laws Programme (LLM) , she was pulled into Legal Practice by Prince A.O. Awogboro & Co. in 1998 as the head of Commercial transactions/ Non- Litigation. She was with Prince A.O Awogboro & Co. till she emigrated to Canada. In Canada, Toyin’s love and passion for corporate/financial transactions and commerce grew. She worked with TD Canada Trust Bank from 2003 to 2013. She started at the CAS and became a Product Development Officer/ analyst for Debit Payments (Payments) department where she became the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the debit side of Payments. She became a certified Project Manager during this period and was involved in a lot of Landmark Projects for the Bank during her tenure in the Payments Department of the Bank. She was also the Risk Analyst for the Payments Team at the time. She bagged numerous “Act of Impact” awards and star recognitions whilst with TD.
Today, Toyin manages Ayodele Akintunde & Co., heads the Non- Litigation team as well as the Administrative Department of the Firm. She led the team of lawyers that completed the first ever LNG drive between a major Nigerian Gas and Power Company and an international Energy Company with affiliates in the United States and Australia; she was one of the team of lawyers that concluded a US$ 1.56 Billion Senior Secured Medium Term Facility for a consortium of oil companies to effect a purchase of an OML and a Trunk Line from major Petroleum Companies operating through a JV. She acts as legal adviser to major Trust, Energy, Oil & Gas Companies and Financial Institutions.
She specialises in her passion area of Commercial Transactions particularly in: Business Law: Company Secretarial practice, Oil and Gas, Power & Energy, Business Formation, Liquidation, Corporate & Commercial business and Transactions, Capital Market transactions, Banking & Insurance;
Real Estate: Purchase, Sale and Lease: Residential, Commercial and Industrial, Real Estate Financing and Development, Mortgage related transactions;
Labour & Employment: Employment Contracts, wrongful Dismissal etc.
Toyin is very versatile and can easily wear the cap of a Core Banker (Payments & legal), a subject matter expert in insurance, Power & Energy, Oil & Gas, a Certified Project Manager and Barrister & Solicitor effectively.
She is a Member of Nigerian Bar Association, Section on Business Law of the NBA and Project Management Institute and speaks English and Yoruba.
When not practicing law, Toyin is an editor who has edited many Christian Books, a counsellor and lover of music who also loves to sing.
